Holland America Line

The Holland America Line was launched under the name Dutch-America Steamship Company in 1873. As one of the oldest cruise lines in the world, it was among the first to pass through the Suez Canal, and it was the main transporter of immigrants from Europe to the United States. In 1895 the company moved into the business of vacation cruises. In 1910 Holland America offered a cruise from New York to the Holy Land. It then temporarily ceased its transatlantic cruises business in 1973.

The Holland America Line became a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation in 1989. Today the cruise line offers cruises to seven continents. The annual cruise by MS Prinsendam is a 60 day voyage to destinations in South America and Africa. In 2009 MS Amsterdam and MS Rotterdam will compete in a Grand World Voyage.

Holland America offers planned activities such as lectures, dance lessons and fitness classes during cruises. Afternoon tea, bingo and other forms of entertainment bring passengers into friendly gatherings. Solo cruisers are welcome on the annual singles cruises. Holland America offers family friendly cruises and cruises to hundreds of destinations around the world.

Cruise destinations include Alaska, Australia, Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Malta, Jamaica, Japan and Ireland, to name just a few! Holland America Cruise Line provides cruises to every corner of the globe. Among the favourite family cruises is a cruise to Disney World and the Bahamas.
